Proper undergarments are an essential part of a dancer’s training and performance experience, especially for female dancers. The right under garments provide appropriate support, allow for full freedom of movement, and create clean, seamless lines in both the studio and on stage. Wearing proper undergarments enhances technique, improves the look of fitted dancewear, and helps dancers feel confident and secure during class, rehearsal, and performance.

For female dancers, selecting well-fitted leotards, supportive bras designed for dance, and smooth, discreet flesh toned undergarments is an important part of standard dance attire. If you are unsure about styles, fit, or what works best under various costumes and uniforms.

Underwear

-  Some dancers who wear tights for a costume or class choose to wear the tights in place of underwear to prevent lines.  This is also an option!

-  If underwear is worn, dancers should choose underwear that is flesh tone AND equally as important, underwear should NOT be seen coming out of the costume in any way.

Bra

-  A supportive bra that is flesh tone, with clear straps is recommended.  

-  Dancers may also choose to wear pedals, or an adhesive bra often called "sticky boobs"
